Owl Flipbook, or 36 stills about ornament crafting

I love flipbooks. Using a bunch of still photographs to capture motion has always fascinated me. Maybe it’s because flipbooks can make the most mundane motion look beautiful. Or, maybe it’s the fact the motion is really created by the way the mind perceives the images that amazes me. Either way, they are fun.

Years ago, I attempted to make some flipbooks of dancing Christmas trees dressing themselves in decorations, but I never finished them. The idea still lingers in my mind.

As I worked on my owls that I told you about yesterday, I decided to track one in flipbook form. I wish I could remember how to make a flipbook with javascript. Funny to think that long before law school, I actually knew how to do such technological things.

So, since I can’t remember how to do that, I’m going to go back in the day.

Here are the pictures. Print them out to create your own flipbook. When you play the flipbook movie, you’ll see how I worked to follow Clare Youngs’ awesome owl ornament design.
