The goal is simple: use all of the crafting materials and art supplies stored in my home craft work space within one year.
Although I have always thought of myself as creative, I realized digging for materials in one of the many boxes of crafting items that fill my work space that I have become nothing more than a collector of items to craft with.
Trip after trip to Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, JoAnn’s, A.C. Moore, etc., etc. has always ended up in a purchase of something that was meant to be made into something else. But over the years, all I have done–at best–is start something that was never finished.
When I went searching for some felt in one of those endless boxes to make some Christmas gifts with, it was like walking through a museum of crafting and sewing supplies. Three quilt tops, five small decorated bags, four clutch purses, stacks of cards, even a woven Halloween bracelet, all lay in boxes waiting to be finished.
2013 is the year all of these supplies and half-finished projects become fully realized works.
Collector no more. Crafter forever more.
During 2013, I plan to find a use for each and every material and medium that is stored in my work space and FINALLY make it into something useful, fun, or that might bring joy into someone’s life.
In this blog, I will share with you my journey to use all of these materials, empty the shelves in my work space so that they can display my work. And, through all this, lighten my footprint, leave the consumer world, and craft into enlightenment.
I hope you will join my on this wonderful journey!
